Soles / Niche
The Scene Anchoring Wicker Park's busiest intersection stands a pair of shoe shops perfect for the in-vogue urban dweller. While appearing to be two distinct stores with separate entrances on different streets, Niche and City Soles actually share the same owner and overlap in space. This dual den of style is light and open, showcasing high-quality, high-end shoes. Glass counters display jewelry by local artists, and colorful, funky purses hang in the backdrop.
The Moves Niche/City Soles has expanded beyond loyal Chicago-based customers to draw in tourists bored with Magnificent Mile shops. Owner Scott Starbucks sells footwear for both men and women, unique in selection and varied in style. Higher-end, avant-garde goods fill the Niche half (prices $250-$300), featuring European imports like Robert Clergerie, Geoffredo Fantini, Sebastiano Migliore and Rodolfo Zengarini. City Soles offers more familiar, lower-priced ($100-$150) designer names such as Charles David, Kenneth Cole and BCBG.
