The Scene

Like its reputed Wicker Park residents, this neighborhood flower market gravitates toward the experimental. While patrons range from local to new Bucktown professionals, they all come to Cattails for a stalk of the exotic and the extraordinary.

The Goods

Many flower shops sell domestic breeds and South American varieties, but Cattails imports 95 percent of their products from Holland. Three times a week, shipments like popular delphinium and gerber daisies arrive. And when in season, tulips sell out quickly. Cattails is also known for its selection of unusual lilies and strikingly colorful roses like the Hocus Pocus, a velvet-textured rose flicked with what appears to be yellow paint. For something even more unusual, check out the pincushion protea ($6 per stem), coxcomb ($4/stem), or purple agapanthus ($5/stem). A few potted plants are also available for purchase.
